Labor pain during the active phase of the first stage of labor is a common experience for women, potentially affecting both their physical and psychological well-being throughout the birthing process. Non-pharmacological interventions, such as slow deep breathing techniques and acupressure at the SP6 point, can be utilized to help alleviate labor pain. This study aimed to examine the effects of slow deep breathing and SP6 acupressure on labor pain among women in the active phase of the first stage of labor at KBLP Hospital in 2024. A qualitative case study approach was employed. The sample consisted of two women in the active phase of the first stage of labor, selected via purposive sampling based on specific inclusion and exclusion criteria. Pain levels were assessed using the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) both before and after the interventions. The findings indicate that the slow deep breathing technique reduced the pain score from 9 to 6, while SP6 acupressure reduced the pain score from 9 to 4 following the intervention at the third hour. Based on these results, SP6 acupressure is more effective than the slow deep breathing technique in reducing pain during the active phase of the first stage of labor. Consequently, both non-pharmacological methods can be implemented as alternatives to help mitigate pain and enhance maternal comfort during the birthing process.
